Former Chief Executive receives Libel apology
Ms Jackie Davies, former Chief Executive of Knowsley Council for Voluntary Service, has reached a settlement in her High Court defamation claim against Haymarket Media Group Ltd, publisher of Third Sector, Knowsley Council for Voluntary Service (KCVS) and Ms Pamela S Ball BA FRSA.
An apology appears on Third Sector’s website as well as KCVS’, and Facebook and Twitter feeds.
The apology is as follows:
On the Third Sector website on 23 July 2015 there appeared an article under the heading:
“The changing story of local infrastructure”. The article also appeared in Third Sector magazine (August 2015).
The article was to the effect that Knowsley Council for Voluntary Service was on the verge of collapse when Pamela Ball took over as Chief Executive.
The article said that this was partly due to the poor running of Knowsley Council for Voluntary Service before Ms Ball took over and she had to repair the damage done.
We accept that there was no foundation to those allegations. We also accept that the allegations have caused injury to the reputation of Jacqueline Davies, the previous chief executive of Knowsley Council for Voluntary Service. We regret any distress or embarrassment that the article has caused Mrs Davies and are glad to take the opportunity of apologising for the article. We have paid her damages and legal costs.
Jackie Davies said: “I am delighted that the Libel claim has finally been concluded and I can now put the matter behind me.”
